We may collect:

• Information you provide to use the Service, including income, tax, budgeting, transaction, deduction, financial, and other information you choose to enter.
• Documents you upload and information extracted from those documents.
• Transaction information you import, upload, enter, or otherwise provide.
• Technical and usage information, such as device, browser, IP address, pages viewed, feature usage, error logs, and analytics information.
• Communications you send to us, including support requests and feedback.

You are not required to provide all information we request. However, if you do not provide information necessary for a feature, that feature may not be available.

You may create or access an account using Google Sign-In.

When you choose Google Sign-In, we collect the Google account information that Google makes available to us and that you authorise us to receive. This generally includes your name, email address, and a unique Google account identifier. We use this information only to create, authenticate, secure, and manage your Aftertax account.

Aftertax does not access your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Photos, or other Google account content unless we clearly request separate permission for that specific purpose in the future.

Our use of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.

We collect personal information directly from you when you register, use the Service, upload documents, enter or import information, contact us, or use Google Sign-In. We also collect some technical and usage information automatically through cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies.

We use personal information to:

• provide, operate, and improve Aftertax;
• create and manage your account;
• process, analyse, organise, and display information you provide;
• provide tax, budgeting, financial education, and related app features;
• respond to support requests and communicate with you;
• detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, misuse, security incidents, and technical issues;
• understand how the Service is used and improve its performance and user experience;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights; and
• provide and improve AI-assisted features, where enabled.

We do not sell personal information or use your personal information for targeted advertising.

Where you use an AI-assisted feature, we may send the information needed to provide that feature—including relevant text, transaction information, or document content—to an AI service provider acting on our behalf.

AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your circumstances. You should review all outputs carefully and obtain professional tax, legal, or financial advice where appropriate. Do not rely solely on AI-generated content when making important financial or tax decisions.

We may disclose personal information to trusted service providers that help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting, database, document storage, security, analytics, monitoring, and AI service providers.

These providers may handle personal information only as needed to provide services to us or comply with legal obligations.

We may also disclose information to professional advisers, insurers, auditors, government authorities, regulators, law-enforcement agencies, or other parties where required or permitted by law. We may disclose information as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Some of our service providers may store or process personal information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where their infrastructure or personnel operate.

Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a manner consistent with applicable Australian privacy requirements.

We use reasonable technical, organisational, and administrative safeguards designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.

No method of online transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by emailing support.aftertax.au@gmail.com. We will delete or de-identify information unless we are required or permitted to retain it by law, including for security, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting support.aftertax.au@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Service working, remember preferences, understand usage, and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not work correctly if cookies are disabled.

Aftertax is not intended for people under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
